I spent my New Year at a guesthouse in a small city and was satisfied with the place. The staff was kind and their communal area was amazing. They had lots of seating, charging ports, and workspace. The toilet and showers were especially clean, and they also had a shelf with books and things to read. The location was good, near to downtown street, and only a short walk to the morning market. The bed had a combination locker, which was very convenient and added extra security to guests' belongings.
The worst thing about the guesthouse was that the private rooms were not completely sound/light sealed, and small. There were also not enough tableware in the kitchen area and no stove.

I loved the comfortable dorm, the spotless cleanliness, and the strong WIFI of this hotel. The common room area was amazing, and it had loads of charging ports and workspace for guests. Additionally, the location of this hotel was superb, and it was close to the morning market and foot onsen. The receptionist was also helpful and provided all the information I needed.
Nothing I didn't like to be fair.

Our stay at Guesthouse Umenoya was a delightful surprise! We arrived at Marine Town in Wajima and easily walked to the guesthouse. The room, although small, was perfect for me as I am not very tall. The shared bath and shower were impeccably clean, and we even received bonus tickets for a nearby sento bath house. The guesthouse itself was beautifully restored and had a spacious common room for work and relaxation. The on-site ramen restaurant offered tasty alternatives to the pork-based dishes. The Juzo Shrine across the street was a lovely addition to our cultural experience. The staff, although not always present at the reception desk, were incredibly helpful and kind. I highly recommend this guesthouse for its cultural authenticity and comfortable accommodations.
